I have not been able to use DP since the 2.0.6 update; every time I open up the mac file, I get a message stating: no mountable file systems. This also goes for the newest update 2.0.7. I have already re-downloaded the files more than once, I restarted the desktop and I updated the software but I still receive the same message. By default, Mac file systems are case-insensitive while Linux is case-sensitive. On Linux, it is possible to create 2 separate files: test and Test, while on Mac these filenames would actually refer to the same underlying file. This can lead to problems where an app works correctly on a Mac (where the file contents are shared) but fails when.

This appears to be a pretty known error. The only problem is, no solution seems to fix it. Lately I have been trying to download a few trials for software such as Little Snitch and Ableton(they both are amazing products from what I have heard). The only issue is for both of them the Disk Mounter gives me an error 'No Mountable File Systems'. This just started recently so I really have no idea what is going on. https://newskin196.weebly.com/mac-photos-library-external-drive.html. I tried opening them with Disk Utility as well and I get the same error. I also tried terminal commands and got the same error. There really seems to be no winning on this one. I really need to fix this ASAP.

A few days ago we added a few new iMacs running 10.7.4 (currently). We set up all our network shares to various servers using SMB, with an edited hosts file in /etc. For the first few days, we were able to connect without an issue. Today however, our shares won't connect using SMB and when viewing all shared systems, the list has truncated to only 6 items from 30 or 40. We can connect using IP addresses, but this creates a conflict with some applications that we use. Restarting has no resolved the issue. We've tried many different 'fixes', but we nothing has worked yet.
Info:iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4) OS X V10.7 Lion :: Spotlight Not Working / Other Important Systems CompromisedMay 28, 2012
I have a slightly older MacBook.It was purchased when leopard was out, but has been upgraded to lion, with ram added.Had no problems with the OS until I installed the seagate diagnostics software about a week ago at their recommendation.During the install, the computer hung during the shutdown of the mandatory restart. It took me a pram reset to get the machine to start up again. Since then, the following has been a problem:
-Spotlight has no index and won't search. -The computer will not shut down, have to pull the plug. -Finale (which uses java runtime) doesn't work, and the auto install of java run time won't go in. -Software update starts, but the percentage bar freezes after a moment. I have run the system restore partition, which went in okay, but did not change anything.I have also followed the steps to uninstall the seagate diagnostic software. However the problem still persists.I'm guessing there is some sort of shut down script that is hanging the system, and preventing indexing from happening which prevents all of these other processes from happening.Does anyone have any ideas for what to do next? MacBook Pro :: NAS Server Systems?Jun 17, 2014
I have a small office (5-10 Mac books) working on wifi, and we are needing a better way to store large art and video files somewhere other than external hard drives. MacBook :: Using Two Separate Operating Systems On It?Apr 30, 2012
I am considering to get a new Mac. In that I want to be able to use two seperate operating systems. The Mac operating system and maybe either a windows or linux or an other useful and functional alternative! The reason for this is, that I have several laptops incl. an iPad. I have concluded that iPad isnt that useful for my needs till now, its not very functional for my needs. I am also going to upgrade my smart mobile still considering functional alternatives (would like to hear yoru thoughts about this as well)! I want to integrate them into one machine only and utilize cloud and / or an external Disk, and be better able to use useful apps and software that are not available on either one of the systems on their own my own system! Usage will be both for biz and private, but at the end usefulness, and functionality will play a big part in my final decision! Do you think this is practical, useful and cost effective way doing it the way I want to do?
Info: iPad, Other OS Desktops :: Mac Pro Suddenly Not Recognizing Discs / No Mountable FilesystemsSep 28, 2010
Hopefully this is the correct place to post my question. Yesterday I inserted a movie DVD into the internal drive of my MacPro 3,1 and received the error message, 'The disc you inserted is not readable by this computer'. I tried several different movie discs, some old, some new releases I just purchased and I get the same message. Data discs work fine but not movie DVDs.
I also noticed that my Mac can no longer mount an ISO or DMG file. I get an error saying 'No Mountable filesystems'. I have repaired permissions, restarted, disconnected all external peripherals, etc. Pretty much all the basic stuff you try when your Mac isn't behaving as you'd expect. The odd thing is that it just started behaving this way within the last two days. DVDs played fine before and I could mount any ISO or DMG file. Only thing that is different is I ran the most recent security update from Apple when it popped up. Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3) MacBook Pro :: Ditching Optical Drive - Segmenting Two Systems?Iso No Mountable System FilesSep 12, 2010
Thinking about ditching the optical drive in my mid 2008 2.5Ghz 15' Macbook Pro and adding a small but fast SSD drive. My idea is to have two hard drives obviously. I would like to have the SSD drive be my specialized drive for running FCP and possible After Effects. The older 250GB drive that is the original equipment would be my main drive. I would do all my web design, flash, photoshop, illustrator, ftp, ssh, programming and web surfing/everyday stuff. Both Drives would be bootable. the 250 drive would have snow leopard and everything else on it and the SSD drive would have snow leopard as well. Is this possible or practical? Would the gains in performance and stability gained from segmenting the two systems be noticeable and worth it? I've seen some articles on dual booting different OS's on the same drive but never on their own exclusive drive with the same OS. What are caches on mac.
